Marda Gras Street Festival 2013
Sunday, August 11th, 2013
10:00am to 5:00pm
This summer, join thousands of Calgarians and visitors in enjoying the sights and sounds of New Orleans, with its purple, green and gold pageantry and free entertainment for kids of all ages at the 29th Annual Marda Gras Street Festival.
The Marda Gras Street Festival is hosted by the Marda Loop BRZ and is held in Marda Loop, on 33rd and 34th Avenues SW, just east of Crowchild Trail. As street parking is limited, we hope that you’ll consider biking down (bike racks provided by the City of Calgary) or parking at The Military Museums (4520 Crowchild Trail SW) and taking our free Southland Transportation shuttle to the festival!
In addition to our many vendors and food options, we have lots of activities and entertainment for the whole family. We encourage everyone, young and old, to come on down and see all that our festival has to offer! 2013 is shaping up to be our best summer yet!

James Jordan, Carnival Magician
He takes his one of a kind carnival themed magic show to festivals and fair grounds, and creates that magical midway atmosphere everywhere he goes. The thrill of the games, the amazement of the magic, and the excitement of the jugglers all captured in one show, and provided by one man.
Schuyler Snowdon, Juggler & Stilt Stunt Acrobat
This local performer climbs up a 9 foot tall free standing ladder and juggles knives. He has been building his street show for 8 years now and has become quite a favorite act at the Edmonton Fringe Festival.
High Strung Aerial Dance
They have been providing high quality outdoor entertainment since 2000. They have toured the world doing just that; breaking down the barriers of traditional circus and cirque nouveau and providing laughter and amazement to audiences and passers-by with their unique open air concept of aerial art, comedy and street theatre. We’re excited to have them perform their Mardi Gras themed show at our festival this year!
To be found throughout the festival
We have a number of buskers performing all over the festival. If you’d like to register, please visit www.MardaGras.EventBrite.com
We also have the Dixie Knights and the Sweet Adelines providing strolling entertainment across the entire festival! Keep your eyes open for them!
